Hand made Tufted Rug

This is a handmade tufted rug, illustrated, designed and hand made by Artist Loren

Made with a mix of Acrylic and Wool yarn backed with anti-skid felt and bias binding.

This rug will make a great addition to any space. It can be used as a statement rug or pinned to the wall to add a bit of personality and fun to any room. The is both a cut pile and loop pile rug. It’s plush and textured. Would make a unique and fun gift or a treat for yourself!

What’s involved in making this rug:

Hand made rugs can take many, many hours to create, from concept, design, to actualisation, they are not priced on the  hours alone but the linear size.

Once the design is finalised it’s drawn on to the primary cloth. I then begin applying the different coloured yarns in stages either by a tufting gun loop,  cut pile gun, or hand punch needle (or combination of all), which is often done to accentuate certain areas.

Each loop/pile of wool is then carefully adjusted to ensure the design is clean, sharp and readable. For a cut pile rug the top layer is sheared to make the pile neat and design pop out. For stray loops in the loop pile these are teased back into position and this will give added texture.

Each rug is secured at the back of pile/loops area with a latex based carpet safe adhesive, then backed with a latex impregnated felt to ensure quality and durability, which also makes the rug stay in place on hard floors.

I finish each rug carefully by securing the underneath edges with a bias tape. The finished rug is then vacuumed and rolled ready for posting. Each rug comes with instructions on how to care for your handmade rug.
